steam problem

Hi fellas,
just wondered if any of you css vets can help me with a problem with steam.I was playing on the sdcs server last night
when for some reason i got disconnected from the server.A popup box saying disconnected: steam id blah blah blah appeared.
I tried to reconnect but the same box kept popping up but with a different steam id number each time.I tried connecting to
numerous other servers but i keep getting the same box popping up all with different id numbers.I sent a email to steam but have
heard nothing and btw I DO NOT CHEAT if thats on anybodys mind.To sum it up i am unable to connect to any server at all.There
is one more thing,when i got disconnected the first time i had a steam update flashing on my toolbar,dunno if it is relevent or not.

Aye we're going to need the "blah blah" in the error message to offer any kind of decent opinion.

Other than that try the obvious:-

Reboot. Try again.
Verify steam files using the steam cosole (in the setting somewhere).
Do a virus scan. You might have had a Trojan/virus/worm and somone nicked ur steam id?

sorry my mistake the box doesn,t say steam id it says disconnect; steam_0;0;9517557
every time i try and join the box says the same but with different numbers to those above.
I did the reboot,verified the steam files and my pc is scanned everyday with avg.
Do you think a restore to an earlier time might work?

That sounds like a very odd error though. Not seen it when it keeps reporting different steam ids?

If you google "STEAM_0:0:9517557", it seems its a steam ID that balongs to a player known as "NiF.SniFF BalOOn™". How strange...

he does play on the server regular tbh.
Tried 3 times to register with sdcs forum but no joy.
I can get on other servers now its just the 3 sdcs servers i cant get on.dunno if they are blocking me or not.

Hi jack,
i dunno how they nicked my account.After 2 weeks of emails to steam they finally reset my password.I logged in then i got all these people belling me on friends who i didn,t know so i checked my account profile and i was listed as someone else.Bastards! thats all i can say.They also stole my hotmail account as that had my same password and i wouldn,t be surprised if they can log in here as i had a new password sent to me which was already opened in my emails.Can i change my password in my control panel ?

sounds like u filled in some kind of phishing email or downloaded a key logging trojan virus

The most recent exploit was via a standard steam private message with a link to a free game, sneaky feckers.

Just don't click on anything in a private message that comes from someone you don't trust or know.

Close it and block the sender.
