wireless network issues

Postby Insanity » Tue Jul 20, 2010 10:21 pm

hey everyone, i've never had a problems with my router up until recently, as the wireless on my computer doesn't want to connect to the wireless router, there's no problems with the router as far as i'm aware, as the laptop, xbox 360 and my iphone all connect with no problems.

the wireless part is set up as follows:

Wireless Radio Band: 2.4Ghz (as the iphone won't connect at 5Ghz)
Network Mode: B/G/N Mixed
Channel Bandwidth: Wide 40Mhz Channel
Wide Channel: 5 2.432Ghz
Standard Channel: 7 2.442Ghz
SSID Broadcast: Enabled

the computer can see the router as it's got full screen bars on connection strength. i've disabled the wireless security to if that was the problem, but still nothing. i've changed the wide and standard channels, as well as the channel bandwidth and still nothing

the router is a Linksys/Cisco WAG320N

and i've tried a standard (i think) Belkin 802.11g, D-Link DWA-111 wireless g usb and D-Link DWL-G520+ 802.11g adapters

any suggestions other than hard wiring it for the time being????

no I mean go into your control panel in your pc and edit your wireless settings and in the ip4 settings give the wireless card a static IP and then restart your router.

changed the ip addresses on them, still nothing. just the dialog box saying waiting for server and it just stays there for a while and disappears. then the pop up in the bottom corner says "unable to connect to preferred wireless networks"

i didn't put the DNS server addresses in as i don't have a clue what they are, if that makes any difference???

it won't if you're only connecting to the router but will be a problem when trying to surf the web

the DNS IP addresses need to be IP address of your router

for the main ip you need to make sure it's an ip address within the range of the router.

Even if you get all that right it might still not work.

Get a netgear router if all else fails.
